When I first started my blog in 2016 I had no idea how much time it would take me each day. I spend 4+ hours on my blog everyday and still feel that I don’t have enough time to work on it. In addition to blogging, I also have school, and travel as much as I can. In today’s post I’m sharing my tips for balancing blogging, school, and traveling.
Throughout blogging one of the things I have learned is the importance of prioritizing the things that you care about. I absolutely love blogging. I have so much fun shopping (of course), taking photos, finding locations, writing the posts, etc. Because I love it so much, it’s not hard for me to put the time in to work on it. I truly feel that your passions lie within the things that you are willing to make time for.
As I said earlier, I spend about 4 hours a day working on my blog. Some days, it’s more like 2..but I always try and spend a minimum of 2 hours a day working on it. I publish three blog posts a week and an Instagram photo everyday. I also have an Email Newsletter that is sent out once a week. There’s a lot that goes into it! About a year ago I hired a Virtual Assistant to help me with some of the work, and that has helped tremendously. Thank you, Chynna! If you’re a blogger and are balancing a lot of different things – I definitely recommend looking into hiring a VA.
While I love blogging and am happy to make time for it, school…not so much. I have never been great at school and have to try really hard to do well! Oftentimes I get lazy and decide to work on other things, when I should be studying. I have learned to have a detailed planner where I write every single test and assignment – to make sure I’m not forgetting anything. My grades are pretty average! Yes, they could be better if I had endless time to study, but lets be honest..that will never happen :). I’m not trying to get into a Masters program or anything so as long as I graduate with decent grades I’m happy!
I try to travel as much as I can. I love seeing different parts of the world! Since I have had the pleasure of living in NYC and spending a few weeks in Charleston, I have made friends in both places that I love visiting. Whenever I travel, I make sure to do my homework on the plane rides and in the evenings!
When picking my schedules, I would make sure to try and have one day off (Friday or Monday) for an extra travel day. I also take advantage of days off/holidays, etc. Most of my trips are short weekend getaways, besides New York Fashion Week where I use my allotted-sick-days to miss school.
All of my traveling is perfect for my blog, as I get to stock up on photos in new locations! I make sure to bring lots of dresses to ensure I have lots of content when I get back.
Balancing all of these things (+ a social life) is not easy and doesn’t give me much free time, but I absolutely love blogging and would never trade it for a few more hours of free-time!
